Completing an addiction treatment program is a major accomplishment, but staying in recovery takes a long-term effort that can be fortified by support from a reliable sober network. For this reason, we are thrilled to announce our long-awaited monthly alumni program chaired by Sunstone’s alumni coordinator, Jared Anderson.
The group meets remotely on the third Monday of each month from 5:00 – 6:30 pm PST. The format of our alumni meetings will be similar to that of an AA or NA meeting and introduce a new recovery-related concept each month for discussion. The goal of our alumni program is to make it easier for Sunstone alums to stay in touch, build new bonds, support one another, and celebrate the everyday successes experienced in early recovery. Online Recovery Support for Sunstone Alumni
During treatment, we work with each Sunstone client to build a personalized discharge plan. This plan will include information for ongoing relapse prevention, connections to Oregon sober living resources, private therapy options, support groups, and sober events and activities. Our goal is to keep people active, connected, and committed to recovery. Our alumni support program is not a therapy group; it is a safe space to discuss recovery and healing topics and build connections with others.
Post-Rehab Support
At Sunstone, we offer teletherapy to Oregon residents who are struggling with mental health concerns, substance use disorders, and combinations of the aforementioned conditions. When people finish treatment, we find that they are often more likely to continue applying concepts learned in treatment when they have access to community support. Our alumni support group offers the following benefits:
- Remote attendance means you can attend from any location
- Convenient and reliable meeting times promote attendance
- More individualized than an Oregon AA or NA meeting
While we recommend that people who have recently completed treatment work to develop new relationships outside of the Sunstone family, we know that there is tremendous healing power in maintaining relationships with people in our recovery network. Having access to reliable, structured, progress-centered monthly meetings help keep graduates connected and accountable.
Online Therapy Promotes Healing
Our therapists at Sunstone provide outpatient treatment to patients with a range of complex mental health and substance use concerns. From daily anxiety to post-traumatic stress disorder, our team of mental health and addiction recovery experts provides support, coping strategies, and techniques to manage mental health concerns, addictions, and combinations of disorders. Our alumni meetings differ from outpatient therapy in that alumni meetings are designed to build community engagement rather than address specific mental health concerns, including:
Bipolar Disorder
People with bipolar disorder experience a range of alternating manic and depressive episodes.
Major Depressive Disorder
People with depression experience persistent low moods that disrupt social, occupational, and intrapersonal functioning.
Anxiety Disorder
Unmanaged anxiety involves excessive and harmful worries and fears that negatively impact people’s daily lives.
Trauma-Related Concerns
Unhealed trauma can impact a person’s ability to regulate emotions, cope with stress, and handle conflicts.
